15th August 2025 CONTEXT Committed Communities Development Trust (CCDT) has been working with the most marginalized and vulnerable communities across Maharashtra and has gone to the last mile to reach children and families in crisis. Over the last 35 years, CCDT has impacted the lives of more than 2 million individuals through its various programs and interventions. With a vision of “A world where every child counts; a world of children living in dignity” and a mission to “Facilitate community action enabling children and their families into being self-reliant along the principles of Child Rights, Equity and Justice”, it is making remarkable changes in the NGO sector. CCDT employs rights-based and needs-based approaches to empower the most deprived communities, and consequently facilitates sustainable social change. These approaches build on our strategic partnerships, anchored over the years, with the continual involvement and contribution of our donors, strategic partners and stakeholders in our quest to achieve the goal of equality and justice for all children in the context of their families. SAMARTHAN project aims to strengthen the capacity of Child Care Institution caregivers to provide effective trauma-informed care (TIC), leading to improved mental well-being of children residing in these institutions. SCOPE OF WORK The SAMARTHAN initiative focuses on strengthening trauma-informed care (TIC) in Maharashtra’s Child Care Institutions (CCIs). Leveraging CCDT’s rich experience of running residential care homes for 30 years, it aims to build caregivers’ capacities to support the mental health and well-being of vulnerable children as well as their own wellbeing as caregivers in challenging situations. The project includes structured training, resource development, and continuous support. It seeks to embed TIC practices in day-to-day caregiving. Ultimately, SAMARTHAN envisions a sustainable, impactful model for child care in CCIs.The selected agency will develop a culturally contextualized TIC training module to equip CCI staff with skills to cascade TIC principles. Scope of Work will cover:

  • Secondary research, which will include (but is not limited to) a needs assessment and other program materials developed by CCDT
  • Developing manuals and modules aligned with Child Rights, Universal Values and SDGs.
  • Non-violent communication as a standard practice to be maintained across all modules.
  • The manual should include the guidelines and empathetic orientation of the children to the new environment.
  • Designing engaging content (case studies, quizzes, handouts, worksheets, PPTs, activities etc.).
  • The module is designed for CCI staff (PO, house mother, security guard, teachers, counsellor, cook, social worker), police, children, families as well as government officials on probable topics like understanding basics of trauma, ethics and confidentiality, collaboration - based learnings, suicide prevention strategy etc.
  • The primary language of the module will be English. To provide multilingual options of the modules, if needed.
  • Pilot-test and refine the module based on feedback.
  • Provide the final modules in PDF print ready and editable format (Pre/post-assessment tools and multimedia resources (references and downloaded videos shared).
  • All teaching material is to be contextualised to Childcare Institution examples as well as the profile of caregiving staff working with children in these settings.
