Consultant - Hindi Translator

Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Public Health Consultant - Hindi Translator will be responsible for translating health-related content from English to Hindi and vice versa, ensuring accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and clarity. The role supports the development of patient education materials, training modules, public health campaigns, and internal communications. and she/he will be responsible the following tasks:

Key Job Responsibilities: 

(1) To translate a book from English to Hindi;
(2) Translate written health content, such as OSCE book and manuals, reports, from

English to Hindi and Hindi to English;

(3) Ensure medical terminology is correctly interpreted and adapted to suit diverse

audiences, including patients, healthcare workers, and the public;

(4) Work closely with health professionals, content creators, and designers to

develop clear, accessible, and accurate health communication;

(5) Review translated materials for grammatical accuracy and cultural sensitivity;

(6) Support verbal interpretation in meetings, training sessions, or patient

interactions when needed;

(7) Maintain a glossary of health terms in both English and Hindi for consistent usage;

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications and Experience
(1) Applicant must have Bachelor's degree in Hindi, Translation Studies, Linguistics, Public Health, or a related field;

(2) Proven experience in translation, preferably in health, medical, or development sectors;

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Excellent command of both English and Hindi (spoken and written);
(2) Familiarity with medical and public health terminology;

(3) Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines;

(4) Experience working with NGOs, Hospitals, or Public Health Agencies;

(5) Knowledge of regional dialects is a plus;

(6) Basic understanding of digital tools (MS Word, Google Docs, CAT tools, etc.);

5. CONSULTANCY FEE: The overall consultancy fee budgeted for the assignment, for the period of three months, is INR 90,000/-.

6. LOCATION: Patna, Bihar

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:

The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of Three months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
