Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Lead and develop the team for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the hospital including accounting, billing, receivables, payables, payroll and banking.
- Monitor cash flow and manage working capital effectively.
· Develop, manage, and monitor the hospital's annual budget and financial forecasts.
· Conduct financial analysis, including cost analysis, profitability analysis of services (e.g., surgeries, OPD, optical), and variance analysis against budgets.
- Conduct regular financial analysis, including variance analysis, profitability analysis, and cost-benefit analysis of hospital services.
- Provide financial forecasts and models to support strategic decision-making and business growth initiatives.
- Prepare and present financial reports and dashboards to the hospital's leadership and board of directors.
- Developing and managing the relations with the banks and financial institutions.
2. Accounting and Reporting:
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and finalize financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
- Manage cash flow, including monitoring cash position and optimizing working capital.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard hospital assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
3. Compliance and Auditing:
· Manage all aspects of direct and indirect tax compliance, including the timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns (e.g., Income Tax, GST/VAT, TDS/Withholding Tax, Sales Tax, and Property Tax).
· Ensure all tax-related payments are made on time to avoid penalties and interest.
· Prepare and maintain detailed tax-related work papers, reports, and documentation.
· Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure compliance with tax laws and company policies.
· Handle all tax-related correspondence, inquiries, and notices from government tax authorities.
· Develop and implement effective tax planning strategies to optimize the company's tax position and minimize tax liabilities.
- Ensure the hospital's compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and healthcare industry accounting standards.
· Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies.
· Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
· Support internal and external audit processes and ensure timely resolution of audit queries.
4. Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the team of accounts and finance.
- Designing the training programs for the user departments for the accounting practices of the hospital.
- Training on the topic of bill processing and reimbursement processes to the hospital staff members.
- Set performance goals, conduct performance reviews, and provide professional development opportunities for the team.
5. Deliverables & Accountability
We expect that under your leadership:
· Strong knowledge of financial planning, accounting practices and taxation compliances for the functioning of the hospital.
· Proficiency in the hospital billing system, accounting software (Tally, SAP or equivalent), and MS Excel.
· Attention to detail to supervise the overall financial planning, accounting functions and taxation compliances on time.
· Represent the annual budget of the hospital to the Trustees and Directors.
